The Message After Devotional: Hebrews 9:16<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So many times in this Christian walk, we use terms like New Testament Christians and New Testament Church. Consequently, I wonder if we understand the pain that propelled this privilege. The text used two important words that will hopefully lead to a better understanding. First, the word testament is indicative of a covenant (an agreement). Secondly, there is the word testator. This word identifies one who disposes of their own, or something that belongs to them. There is another important word in the text, the word “death”. Okay here we go! The testator who gave his own is Jesus, the covenant was to reconcile man unto God, and He did it by dying for our sins, hence the word death in the text. Therefore, every time we say, think of, or write the word Testament let us remember it came only by Christ’s death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prayer: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Father, we thank you for giving your only Son to die in our stead. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
